Why is breakfast important and what happens if I miss it every day?
I had a problem with breakfasts most of my life. I cant remember how it started, but mabe it was when I had to wake up for school at 6-7am and didnt feel like eating that early + was embarrased to eat in class.
Anyway… At least for the past 15-19 years of my life I’ve been skipping breakfast pretty much every day simply because I feel like vomiting when I see food any earlier than 11am-12pm. I enjoy food and get hungry just fine at other times of the day after that.
I’m 25, and I heared that skipping breakfast slows your metabolism. Mabe that’s one of the reasons I grew a belly I never had when I was in my teens? Do you think there’s something wrong with me that could explain why I cant eat in the morning? What can you suggest I can do to start eating breakfast? What are the things that can happen to someone who skips breakfast?

Eating breakfast gives you a jumpstart in the morning, not only physically but mentally. I’m not a big breakfast eater either, but I try to eat things that are easy on the stomach in the morning such as fruit or yogurt or maybe some type of trail mix or granola bar.
Your parents werent kidding when they said that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. Eating within an hour of waking helps you to jump start your metabolism and it is a proven fact that people that consume a healthy breakfast in the morning eat less the rest of the day than non-breakfast eaters.
Small steps should help you to get in the habit. Start with something small like a banana and a cup of yogurt. Try a slice of toast with peanut butter. And if you arent into breakfast food, have non-breakfast food like half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich or a slice of leftover pizza. By forcing yourself to eat a small breakfast everyday, your body will eventually learn to expect those calories. Also, try to eat less at night so you actually wake up hungry.
